I’ve been gone for almost a week. The first part of last week was spent in OK City for that work trip (which I ended up surviving… haha). The second part of the week was spent visiting ma, pa, and sis (with bro in tow) at the ol’ homestead.
I sat down to write something this morning. I started to link to a previous post from several months back, and as I was scanning the old post for the part I wanted, something dawned on me about my writing.
My “ranting” has slowly been spiraling down into… well… ranting. I went back and read some of the earlier things I’d written and then compared those to some of the newer stuff. I’ve basically been bitching for the last two months, if not longer. When I think about the things that have inspired me to post lately, they’re all things that have irritated me or made me think “oh how stupid”.
That’s not what I started this blog for. I suppose it’s good for some reasons, though. I mean… my blog is called “Reader Meet Author”. The bitching, cynical side of my personality is certainly there, as anyone who knows me can attest to. But that’s not all I am.
So in the spirt of my ‘Blogging New Year’, I’m going to make a conscious effort to bitch less. Oh I’m sure the occasional gripe-fest will be had. But lets face it… bitching gets old, doesn’t it? It gets old to write about and it gets old to read. I’ve vented for a while now. Let’s hope turning over a new writing leaf will help me to turn over the same leaf in my life.
