Theme Debacle

Date September 22, 2006

Well I figured out what was wrong with the theme I was using here: it was complex. Links everywhere… icons all over the place… the content came second to the wrapper. I think you’ll agree the simple, no-frills look is much more content-focused… which is what Reader Meet Author has always been about. There can’t be errors or missing images or lines of code to tweak if they don’t exist.

So… what do ya think? Does this simple, clean look fit me or what?

Institutional? Haha. I like to think of it as “clean”. But those kinda mean the same thing… don’t they? :P

I even took a bunch of fancy interactive crap down to make things as simple as possible. Less is more, right?

Haha. Have I had any themes that you did like? LOL.

Of course, but I don’t allow myself to get attached because I know it’s likely to be gone soon. I like these colors, but I liked the previous layout (and several before that). :) I guess this makes it more of an adventure, right?

Hopefully the adventure part is over. I’ve logged numerous hours tweaking and customizing this one. And I’m not done. So, at least for the foreseeable future, this one is it.

The only thing I have to do now is decide if I like this lighter version or the darker one.

[...] I’ve been spending a considerable amount of time tweaking, customizing, and improving Reader Meet Author lately. Since the Theme Debacle is over (for now), I’ve been focusing on adding new stuff both for readers and for myself. I was going to post this in the “Tids & Bits” sideblog… but it’s important enough to me to warrant a full fledged post. [...]
