Bittersweet Anniversary

Date October 25, 2006

In six days I’ll have worked at the hospital for exactly one year. I can’t believe how fast the past 365 days have sped by. Why… just yesterday it seems like I was sitting in the big conference room going through “system wide” orientation with all the other new hires. But that wasn’t really yesterday.

No… I remember yesterday. Because yesterday I gave notice. On November 7, 2006, my employment with the hospital will come to end. Part of me will miss it. I really like my co-workers. I like working in a hospital. Heck… on some days I think I’ll even miss the patients!

But this isn’t supposed to be a sad post. I gave notice because I have a new job. Something radically different for me. Something not even remotely related to the mental health field. Something I never thought I’d ever get paid to do. It’s so outside the realm of my world that it hasn’t really sunk in fully. And I’m getting in on the ground floor… it’s totally new. Which is why I’m not going to go into the details about it just yet. But I’ll give you a teaser: I’m getting paid to blog (and no… not here at Reader Meet Author).

Oh… I guess it really isn’t that far outside the realm of my world. But isn’t it wild?

I’ll have more details in the future…

Good Luck with the new career. Just don’t let it cut in to your IMPORTANT blog time. :) Can’t wait to hear all about it.
