I was reading an article about blog posts the other day and I ran across some comments left by users at a popular “news” site. One of them referred to blog writers as “pompous windbags” who only wrote on blogs because they “couldn’t make it as journalists”. Another one referred to the blogs with nothing to offer other than a recap of someone’s daily events by saying they “ruined the word blog”.
I’m wondering if those guys are the norm or just a couple of extreme blog haters? I threw together a quick poll (sorry for the limited options… I just didn’t know what else to put). If you’ve got an extra second cast your vote or leave a comment.
I’m really curious now… seeing as how blog writing is my new full time job! Haha.

Well, my official answer would be somewhere in between the two yes answers. There are plenty of blogs that certainly have useful information - and they can be a lot more enjoyable and interpersonal than other sources. I’m not sure that I would say they are hands-down more reliable sources than, say, a front-page news article. But I’d say there’s definitely plenty of great information to be found from “bloggers” and individuals who have lots of interesting/informative things to say, but maybe not always have other avenues of sharing those ideas available to them.
I guess I should have included a more middle-groundish option. I totally see your point.
Next time I’ll get your help coming up with options.
They’re only worth it if you make the cut in a much sought after blog site! heh-heh…

Yeah, I can’t agree completely with any of those options. I think they are valuable…entertaining and often informative, but wouldn’t be my first source of news.
