Thanks Are in Order

Date November 21, 2006

At this time last year I was giving thanks for freedoms that I had been reminded of while working at the hospital. There’s nothing like seeing people have so many freedoms stripped away to make you appreciate what you have.

This year I have many more things to be thankful for. I have a new apartment, a new roommate, and a new living situation that I love. I have a new job that I love. I’m spending a lot of time with my family. I’m happier these days than I’ve been in quite a while.

But I know that some people don’t have a readily available list of things to feel thankful for. I know that some times it seems like things aren’t that great. If at no other time of the year, take time over the next few days to remind yourself of everything you do have. Remember… regardless of how your life is going, there’s almost always someone who’s worse off.

That being said, how do you plan on spending the next few days? I’ll be leaving Wednesday after work to go home to my parents. I’m excited about being able to spend several days at home. I know I’m thankful for the chance to be around the people I care about. I won’t be back until Sunday, so it’ll probably be quiet around here for the next few days.

So until I return… have a great holiday, a great weekend, and don’t forget to say thanks for everything… even the little things… that bring you happiness.

You wanna know what I am thankful for? Among other things, the best is that I can ACTUALLY see the stars from my balcony of my new apartment. You can’t ever see the stars in Springfield! I love that I finally can!!

How do you get to the see them when no one else can?

You know, you’re right Derick. Most of us go about the day feeling lousy and complaining about not having this and not having that in their lives. Not often do we stop and value what we do have. Some of us even spend all of our lives chasing something that we will never get without putting an eye’s blink on what is available within our easy reach. Sad to say, but we humans are like this.

Yes, I’ve started to cherish what I already have. And when I do that, life seems to have much more happiness and meaning to it. :)

I couldn’t have said it any better myself!!
