Video Sunday Twofer

It’s Sunday and that means I’m posting a video. Yeah… I decided to try and make it a regular Sunday thing. I even set myself up a reminder in my handy-dandy Google Calendar so I get a text message on the ol’ cell phone that says “Hey… it’s Sunday… post a video you forgetful bastard” and it seems to be working.
The problem is, there were two that I really wanted to post. So instead of trying to figure out which one to do, I’m gonna do them both. They’re not even remotely related (other than the fact that I got a chuckle out of them both). I’ve got some commentary on one and the other is just a funny commercial. Read on to watch the videos, read my take, and share your own.
What Would You Do For Money?
This reminds me of the guy who tried to sell his soul on eBay. This guy, however, is trying to raise money to visit his daughter for Christmas. I’ve been hard up for cash before, but I’m not sure I’d ever resort to selling my soul or even self-slaps. I guess this form of money-making is better than drug running or prostitution. If this video is any indication, the guy isn’t kidding when he says the slaps are hard. I’d love to have the chance to ask him what prompted his decision to slap himself. Seriously stop and think about it. It’s really an odd thing to come up with, right?
If you view the video directly on YouTube, you’ll see that it’s been viewed almost 88,000 times (at the time of this post). Let’s just say, for argument’s sake, that 1/10 of the people who watched it actually gave him $1. That means two things: 1) He’ll have made a killing and 2) He’s going to have to slap himself almost 9,000 times continuously. And the video is only 3 days old, so there’s no telling how many more people will watch it. It will be interesting to see how successful he is and if he holds up his end of bargain.
Apparently, in a funny twist, someone called his sexuality into question and, thus, called the legitimacy of his claim into question. Not that it’d be entirely unbelievable that a gay man could have a daughter, but that would probably put a damper on his money-making venture. He posted a second video expressing his heterosexuality with a few examples. It’s pretty funny, too, and he thinks “it went pretty good” in so much as it clears up annny doubt in the viewers mind.
My take: If the guy is desperate enough for money that he’ll slap the snot out of himself and post it for the world to see, more power to him. If you think about it, it’s really a great idea. I hope he slaps himself all the way to the bank.

If you haven’t seen this commercial, you’re missing out. I myself had not until Mandy pointed it out to me on YouTube tonight. There’s not really much to say except that it’s pretty stinkin’ hilarious if you ask me.
And that concludes Video Sunday. Please return next Sunday for more videos. Ok… wait… if you really want to be nice, you’ll return before Sunday for things besides video. But I know that’s asking a lot.

Both of those make me howl with laughter…and I don’t usually use the word “howl” to describe anything but wolves.

I guess he decided not to slap himself for money afterall. Hopefully he didn’t take a bunch of money from people first. What’s odd, though, is that he has since added several videos talking about the fact that he was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness. He says he only has two months to live. But then he’s laughing and dancing and have a great time in other videos… and acting crazy… and occasionally mentions the terminal illness. I can’t tell if he’s joking or not. [...]
