Top “Top 5″ Posts From Group Writing Project Day 1

Date May 8, 2007

ProBlogger’s Group Writing Project is off to a great start with 132 submissions on the first day alone!  One of the things I’ve quickly learned by participating in this event is that are a ton of great blogs out there that I’ve never heard of.  I guess that shouldn’t really come as a surprise… since I’ve been a self-proclaimed blogging recluse for the past 3 years.

These are some of the Top 5 posts submitted on day one that I enjoyed reading:

While I think my list would contain slightly different sites, I like the coverage here:  email, feed reader, a money-making site (which would be kinda useless on a deserted island), the blog, and a storehouse of reading material.  I’d probably switch out the money-making site for The Wilderness Survival Guide… ya know… just in case I needed help with something.

asterisk_orange.png  Five gems: what makes a good pub? - Pint of Ale

I read this post and I could picture the type of pub Mike is describing.  I’m not a big drinker by any stretch of the imagination… but I do enjoy the atmosphere of a good pub.  There’s something comforting about them, especially the earthy, historical ones.  We don’t have many of those around here but Mike’s excellent grasp of descriptive prose made me feel like I knew exactly what he was talking about.

asterisk_orange.png  Top 5 healthy relaxation techniques - Parapsychology articles and blog

Relaxation is one the most under utilized - and over-needed - coping skills for those of us living in many Western cultures.  We’re so busy and so stressed that we don’t make time to apply the brakes and spend a few moments each day releasing tension.  With a little careful relaxation, the stress of our society can literally melt away and completely change the way you think and feel.  If you can master just one of the techniques Jacob outlines in this post… you’ll be better off than the majority of the American population.

asterisk_orange.png  The top 5 funniest music video parodies - ear sucker

Speaking of relaxation… humor is a great way to relieve stress and tension.  And if you need a good laugh, any of ear sucker’s video parody choices will do the trick.  My favorite of the choices was actually the #5 choice by ear sucker:  Greg Scarnici & the Oompa Loompettes’ version of “Fergalicious”.  Of course… “Bitch and Whine”, a parody of Paris Hilton, is freaking hilarious as well.

asterisk_orange.png  My 5 fingers ranked - All Tips and Tricks

One of the funniest (but true) posts I’ve read in a long, long time.  I’m not sure which I like more:  “it always stays in the knife’s way when you slice vegetables”, in reference to the the index finger, or “it never wants to fit inside a glove when you put it in a hurry”, in reference to the small finger.  There’s not one thing about this post that isn’t true.  But when you look at these things in the post’s context - a ranking of fingers - it’s absolutely hilarious.

These are just a few of the great posts submitted so far.  Check out the full list and I’m sure you’ll find something of interest.  Everything from horses to exs are covered.  And this is just day one!
