Even More Online Advertising

Date May 23, 2007

Just when you thought Google had advertised as much of the web as it could… two NEW ways for Google to get ads in front of us:

What do you think about ads inside of videos? If you were watching YouTube, for example, would you stop watching if an ad played before the video? Would it influence your decision to go to YouTube if you could go somewhere else and watch videos without ads? No… Google isn’t saying they’re adding ads to YouTube. I’m just using that as an example.

What about ads in feeds? How many of you utilize RSS feeds? Those of you who are RSS users… do you even notice ads at the bottom of feeds?

I’m curious about the tipping point. We’ve become accustomed to ads in websites. At least… I hope we have (seeing as how I just put them on RMA). We’ve become accustomed to ads on television, radio, in newspapers, magazines… etc. But eventually enough is enough.

Do you think there’s too much advertising online? Just enough? Not enough?

I don’t know if Google is ever going to stop! It doesn’t seem like they’ll even slow down for a few years.

Haha. No kidding! Look at this chart! It shows the rise in use of the words “Google” and “domination” by each other in the media. Haha.
